We been living up in the mountains for two weeks now. It's been somewhat of an adjustment for both of us. The biggest adjustment is the remoteness. We're not that far from town (Los Gatos), only 10 miuntes, but it's still a bit of a hassle to drive down the hill to grab something. We just have to become more organized and plan better.
The other big adjustment is all the critters and crawly things. There's A LOT of bugs up here. None of them are too creepy, thank goodness. The worst ones are the ticks. I found one dug into my shoulder last week. Robin found one crawling on her, and we found some crawling on Lucy too. it's a good thing the dogs are on Revolution which protects against fleas and ticks.
I'm sure the winter months are going to be a little rough. It gets really cold, and the rain is going to make keeping the house clean a difficult task.
It's taking some time to adjust, but so far we love living up on the Christmas tree farm. However, things will get interesting once Christmas tree hunting season starts next week ;)

Robin, when it gets tiresome taking so long to get to town, think about when you lived in Jamesburg! I seem to remember it was about an hour drive to get a gallon of milk or find a pizza place. But maybe the Jamesburg remoteness has just grown in my mind to be more than it really was. Speaking of creepy-crawlies, I do remember seeing a trantula there once!
